Hello 2014!

Welcome to 2014, and to my little corner of the internets!

Miss L's drawing of our dog Charlie.

My "plan" for this space is to keep track of my makes, some life events -- quilt-related or not -- and just to have a little place to visit with friends -- quilty or otherwise!

So who am I? That's a question I often ask myself! Let's find out together, shall we? That said, there is a cast of characters who will likely be making regular appearances. Miss L is my adorable almost-8-year-old daughter. My Mister is a sweet, loving, indulgent husband. Plus Charlie, our adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and I'm over the moon in love with him. lol

Why The Cavalier Quilter? Partly because of our sweet dog, Charlie, but also because I love puns!

The adjective "cavalier" means "showing a lack of concern; offhand" -- and I've often described myself, in an offhand sort of way, as an "-ish quilter." Measurements are guidelines, not strict requirements. Patterns are suggestions, or jumping off points. And points are...well...sometimes less than pointy. There's nothing wrong with that!

This year will be full of quilty goodness, I can pretty much guarantee that! I'm president of the Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild. I'll be attending a couple of fun retreats (Pink Castle's Camp Stitchalot, and the Fat Quarterly Retreat in London). Plus I have a huge stash and my goal is to get it sewn up. I'm not afraid to share my successes *and* my failures (we all have something to learn), so it's possible there'll be some light-hearted self-mockery happening as well.

So let's have some fun, shall we?
